ProGifts employee Kevin Tormes, 19, received the President’s Student Service Award from Santa Fe Community College today for excellence in civic engagement and community service. Tormes spent more than 100 hours doing community service during the past four months. His work consisted of cleanup of Mississippi homes and areas affected by Hurricane Katrina. Tormes remembers experiencing Hurricane Andrew in South Florida back in 1992 and knows well the devastation that can occur during these storms. “After hearing the stories of the damage, I wanted to be able to take part in the recovery effort,” said Tormes.
